Mukaase terms of service
Last updated
The short version
Mukaase is a pantry app. It keeps track of what is in your kitchen, guesses how long things last, and tells you what to use first. The free plan does not expire. A paid plan removes the free plan's scanning caps and unlocks full recipe sorting.
Every date Mukaase shows you that it was not told is an estimate, and the app labels it as one. Do not use Mukaase to decide whether food is safe to eat.
The rest of this page is the agreement itself.
1. Who this agreement is between
These terms are an agreement between you and Floresys LLC, a New York limited liability company, registered office c/o Republic Registered Agent Services Inc., 54 State Street, Ste 804, Albany, NY 12207, USA — "we", "us", "our". By downloading or using Mukaase you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
Apple is not a party to this agreement. Section 14 sets out the parts of it that concern Apple.
2. There is no account
Mukaase asks for no email address, no password and no account. Your identity in the app is your device and, if you use sync, your own iCloud account. This is why we have no way to sign you out, transfer your data to somebody else, or recover it for you if you lose it.
Keeping a copy of your own data is something the app helps with — Settings → Data → Export my data writes your pantry to a file you can save or send — and something we cannot do for you.
3. Your licence to use Mukaase
We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use Mukaase on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store's usage rules. The app is licensed to you, not sold.
You may not copy the app for distribution, rent or sublicense it, or reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble it, except where law says such a restriction cannot be enforced.
4. The free plan
The free plan is not a trial and does not expire. In each calendar month it allows:
- 5 receipt scans
- 30 product barcode scans
Both counters return to zero at the first moment of the following month, in your device's own time zone. Adding items by hand, by dictation, and by reading a printed date is not counted or capped.
The free plan also shows one "Use it up" recipe suggestion rather than the full list, and does not sort recipes by what you already have at home.
If we change these limits, the change takes effect from the following calendar month, not part-way through one you have already begun.
5. What we sell, and what it costs
Mukaase sells one paid tier in this version, under three purchases. Prices below are the United States App Store prices; the App Store sets the equivalent price in each other territory, and the price shown to you at the moment of purchase is the one that applies.
| What it is | Price (US) | Billing |
|---|---|---|
| Personal, monthly | $4.99 | Auto-renewing every month |
| Personal, yearly | $24.99 | Auto-renewing every year |
| Personal, lifetime | $49.99 | Paid once. Not a subscription, and it never renews |
The introductory offer. The yearly plan may be offered at $1.99 for the first month, paid up front, after which it renews at the full yearly price. Apple allows one introductory offer per subscription group per Apple ID, so it is shown only where the App Store says you are still eligible for it. The monthly plan and the lifetime purchase carry no introductory offer.
All three unlock the same thing: no scanning caps, the full "Use it up" list, and recipe sorting by what you have at home.
A shared household plan is not sold in this version. Inviting other people to a shared pantry is not part of the app you are buying today. If it ships, it will be a separate purchase and nothing here obliges you to make it.
6. Auto-renewing subscriptions
The monthly and yearly plans renew automatically. Specifically:
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically unless you turn auto-renewal off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Apple charges for the renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- You manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID account settings — on your device, Settings → your name → Subscriptions — or from Settings → Subscription → Manage inside Mukaase. We cannot cancel a subscription for you.
- Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Cancel it in your Apple ID settings.
- Cancelling stops the next renewal. It does not shorten the period you have already paid for, and the paid features stay available until that period ends.
The lifetime purchase does not renew, cannot lapse, and has no cancellation to make.
7. Payment, refunds and price changes
Apple takes the payment, not us. Every purchase is made through the App Store and is charged to your Apple ID. We never see your card, and we hold no payment details of yours.
Refunds are Apple's to give. Ask for one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot refund an App Store purchase ourselves. Nothing here limits any refund right you have under the consumer law where you live.
If we change a price, Apple tells you before the change takes effect, and for a rise above Apple's threshold your subscription will not renew at the new price unless you agree to it.
Restoring a purchase. If you get a new phone or reinstall the app, tap Restore purchases on any paywall or in Settings → Subscription. Your purchase is tied to your Apple ID, so you do not pay twice.
8. What Mukaase promises, and what it does not
This section is the one we would most like you to read.
Mukaase guesses, and says so. Unless you typed a date yourself or the app read one off a package, the expiry date Mukaase shows is an estimate from a general table of how long that kind of food keeps. Every item carries a label saying which of those it is. The estimate knows nothing about how warm your fridge runs, how long the shopping sat in the car, or whether a jar was opened last week.
Do not use Mukaase to decide whether food is safe to eat. Use the date printed on the package, your own senses, and your own judgement. We are not liable for illness, loss or waste from food you kept, ate or threw away because of something the app showed you.
Scanning is imperfect. Receipts, barcodes and printed dates are read by machine, and the reading can be wrong or incomplete. Product information from Open Food Facts can be wrong, out of date or missing, and we do not verify it. Check anything that matters.
Sync is Apple's. Mukaase syncs through your iCloud account. Whether sync works, and how quickly, depends on iCloud, your account, and your network — none of which we control.
Reminders are not guaranteed. Expiry reminders are scheduled on your device and depend on iOS notification settings, focus modes and system behaviour. Do not rely on one arriving.
9. Your data and your content
What you put into Mukaase is yours. We do not claim ownership of it, and we do not hold it — it lives on your device and in your own iCloud account. Our privacy policy explains the narrow set of things we do receive.
You are responsible for what you put into the app, and for keeping your own copy of anything you would be sorry to lose.
10. Using the app fairly
Do not use Mukaase to break the law. Do not try to defeat the paid features, interfere with the app's operation, or use it to harm anyone else. If you do, we may end your licence under section 12.
11. Other people's material
Product names, brands and categories come from Open Food Facts, an open-data project, and its database is licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL v1.0). Its data belongs to that project and its contributors, not to us.
Mukaase's own recipes, text, images, design and code are ours, and section 3's licence is the only right you get to them.
12. Changes, availability and ending this agreement
The app changes. We add, alter and remove features. We will not take away something you have already paid for during a period you have paid for.
You can end this agreement at any time by deleting the app, and by cancelling any subscription in your Apple ID settings.
We can end it if you materially breach these terms. If we do, your licence stops; your data stays where it always was, on your device and in your iCloud.
We may change these terms. The current version is always at mukaase.app/terms with the date at the top. We hold no email address for you, so that page is the only place a change appears. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it; if you do not, stop using the app and cancel any subscription.
13. Warranties and liability
Mukaase is provided as is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost data or lost profits. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to Mukaase is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in the 12 months before the claim.
None of this removes rights you have that cannot be removed. Some places do not allow these exclusions, and where that is so, they do not apply to you. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights stand whatever this section says.
14. Apple's part in this
Because Mukaase is distributed through the App Store, the following apply:
- This agreement is between you and us alone, and not with Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for Mukaase and its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for Mukaase. Support is ours: support@floresys.com.
- If Mukaase fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation at all with respect to Mukaase.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to Mukaase — including product liability claims, any claim that the app fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection or similar law.
- If a third party claims that Mukaase or your use of it infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, are responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this agreement and may enforce it against you.
15. Governing law
These terms, and any dispute arising out of them or out of your use of Mukaase, are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Floresys LLC is a New York limited liability company, and the state and federal courts located in New York have jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, this does not take anything away from you. The mandatory consumer-protection laws of the country you live in still apply, and you can still bring proceedings in your local courts. Nothing in this section overrides a right your own law gives you and does not let you sign away.
